The fire occurred at Vistra's energy plant in Moss Landing, prompting the Monterey County Sheriff's Office to issue evacuation orders for zones surrounding the power plant. Residents in Moss Landing south of Elkhorn Slough, north of Molera Road and Monterey Dunes Way, and west of Castroville Boulevard and Elkhorn Road to the ocean are impacted. Specific evacuation zones include MRY-B037, MRY-B047, MRY-B050, MRY-B051, MRY-B053, MRY-B058, and MRY-B060.
A temporary evacuation center has been established at the Castroville Recreation Center to assist those displaced by the fire.
